Is democracy an economic liability?

Now question arises,is socialist countries like China growing faster than the democratic countries? If not,can we say that democracy is the economic liability.The OECD countries have the long history of development but Chinese history of economic development is rather different.In democracy,free market economy persists,on the other hand,government or state economy rules the market in the socialism.In China, socialist market economy is developing rapidly along with globalisation.The similar process is pursuing by the democratic countries in the global market.Both are open.The process of development is rather different but no question of economic liability.
